This document explains what we do with the information you give us when you use the enquiry form on our website. It is written in plain English on purpose — if anything here isn’t clear, ring us and ask.

Who we are

AR Roofing is a trading name of Brandon Lee Smith (sole trader), 3 Snape Hill Road, Darfield, Barnsley. We are the data controller for information collected through our website. That means we decide what happens to it and we are responsible for looking after it.

What we collect

If you fill in the form on our site, we collect:

  • Your first name
  • Your email address
  • Your phone number
  • Your postcode
  • Your answers about your roof — whether you own the property, what the problem is, and when you’d like it sorted

We also collect some technical information automatically: which advert or link brought you to us, roughly how long you spent on the page, and standard browser information such as your device type. This helps us understand which of our adverts are working.

Why we collect it

To contact you about your roof, arrange a free inspection, and send you a written quote. That’s it. We use your answers so we know what we’re coming to look at before we arrive.

The legal basis for this is legitimate interests — you have asked us to quote for work, and we need your details to do that. If we send you follow-up emails about your enquiry, you can stop them at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of every one.

Who sees it

Only Ashley, Brandon and anyone working directly on your job. We do not sell your information, and we do not pass it to other tradespeople or to marketing companies.

We use a small number of trusted suppliers to run our business, and your information passes through their systems:

  • GoHighLevel — the system that stores our customer records and sends our emails and texts
  • Meta (Facebook and Instagram) — if you came to us from one of our adverts, we tell Meta that an enquiry happened so we know which adverts are worth running. What we send is encrypted before it leaves us and cannot be read as your name or number
  • BaskRate — the agency that runs our advertising and looks after these systems on our behalf

How long we keep it

If you become a customer, we keep your details for six years after the work is finished. That’s so we can honour the guarantee, and because we’re required to keep business records.

If you don’t go ahead, we keep your enquiry for twelve months in case you come back to it, then delete it.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Tell you what information we hold about you
  • Correct anything that’s wrong
  • Delete your information
  • Stop using it for marketing

Just ring or email and ask. We’ll sort it within a month, and there’s no charge.

Cookies and tracking

Our site uses cookies set by Meta so we can tell which of our adverts brought people to us. If you’d rather not be tracked, you can turn cookies off in your browser settings, or adjust your advert preferences in your Facebook account. The form will still work.

If you’re not happy

Tell us first and we’ll try to put it right. If you’re still not satisfied you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
